Community Programs

The Community Injury Prevention and Emergency Preparedness Program was developed by a professional group of healthcare workers to lessen the impact of health-related events or injuries. With expertise from years of medical training, certifications in Injury Prevention, Basic Life Support and Stop the Bleed, we provide the knowledge and skills necessary to keep children and adults safer and more prepared when biking, or to let a bystander, family member or friend take action in the event of an emergency. These programs offer the skills and knowledge to allow those precious moments before help arrives to be productive and potentially lifesaving. Minutes Matter!

JOIN US for a FREE Seminar to learn about how the minutes matter, you have the power to save a life. In an emergency, minutes matter. You never know when you might find yourself at the scene of an accident, cardiac arrest, overdose, or other crisis situation. From calling 911 – and knowing what to say – to clearing a path for emergency professionals, even the most basic knowledge can save lives and improve outcomes.
UPMC launched Minutes Matter to provide community members with access to basic emergency information and education about life-saving interventions. UPMC experts will educate attendees on simple life-saving interventions including AED training, hands-only CPR, Narcan administration, and “Stop the Bleed.” Attendees will be able to experience hands-on demonstrations.
