With special emphasis on assisting those in financial need and vulnerable populations, Passavant Hospital Foundation raises funds for the latest in medical technology and equipment at UPMC Passavant, to support excellence in patient care. But the Foundation serves the health of ALL in our community in many more ways.

Department Grants

The Foundation supports UPMC Passavant through departmental grantmaking. For 2022 the Foundation announced 15 grants to hospital departments totaling $270,466, for technology, equipment and programs which improve patient diagnosis, treatment, care, comfort and safety. This investment of funds is a collaborative effort with the Foundation, Passavant Hospital Auxiliary and the hospital itself. View the full list of grants awarded: Grants Announcement 2022.

Community Initiative Grants

The Foundation continues to align itself with initiatives in McCandless and Cranberry supporting our patients, their families, staff and the community. In 2022, Passavant Hospital Foundation supported four community grants totaling $52,262. The following grants are:

  • Bethlehem Lutheran Church New Start Furniture Ministry.
  • Center for Lifelong Learning at La Roche University for the purchase of an AED and first aid training.
  • Glade Run Lutheran Services for the purchase of health and first aid items.
  • Kearns Spirituality Center Comfort and Hospitality for UPMC Passavant Patient Families.
  • Mars Home for the Youth Family Services to assist with the MST-Psych Care Team.
  • McCandless/Franklin Park Ambulance Authority for the purchase of a safety radio.
  • McCandless Police for the purchase of an AED.
  • North Hills Community Outreach to help provide food for low-income families and older adults.
  • Northland Public Library for the purchase of an AED.
  • Orchardview Stables to help assist with therapeutic programs.
  • Peebles Volunteer Fire Company for CPR & AED training materials.
  • West View Volunteer Fire Dept for upgrading medical equipment on an apparatus.
