Mission Support

With special emphasis on assisting those in financial need and vulnerable populations, Passavant Hospital Foundation raises funds for the latest in medical technology and equipment at UPMC Passavant, to support excellence in patient care. But the Foundation serves the health of ALL in our community in many more ways.

Department Grants

The Foundation supports UPMC Passavant through departmental grantmaking. For 2022 the Foundation announced 15 grants to hospital departments totaling $270,466, for technology, equipment and programs which improve patient diagnosis, treatment, care, comfort and safety. This investment of funds is a collaborative effort with the Foundation, Passavant Hospital Auxiliary and the hospital itself. View the full list of grants awarded: Grants Announcement 2022.

Funded Jointly by Passavant Hospital Foundation and Passavant Hospital Auxiliary was for the UPMC Wound Healing Services Department at UPMC Passavant in purchasing a Vasculab.
The Vasculab will be utilized in the outpatient wound center making it possible to have vascular testing completed on the first wound visit for patients. This will assist the doctor's to develop the best plan of care without the burden of additional trips for the patient; therefore, enhancing both quality of care and patient experience.

In 2021 with a shared grant of $186,710 from Passavant Hospital Foundation, Passavant Hospital Auxiliary and UPMC Passavant, the hospital acquired 15 new Stryker Prime Series stretchers for its fleet.“ They’re the Cadillac of stretchers – they reduce physical strain on clinicians, enhance patient safety and comfort, provide versatility in their use, and can accommodate weights up to 700 pounds,” said Lori Ferguson, director of environmental services and patient transport at UPMC Passavant. “With the hospital continuing to grow, it’s so important for us to have the proper equipment to meet the demand.”
