Foundation Fun Fact Friday
For the next couple weeks, Passavant Hospital Foundation Fun Fact Friday’s will show the amazing partnership the Foundation has with UPMC Passavant and the community we serve through our generous donors who help support all our funds.
In 2014, Passavant Hospital Foundation created the Patient Assistance Fund. Since the inception of the fund, over $27,000 has been able to help UPMC Passavant patients who need assistances with medications, equipment, groceries, and other resources after discharge.
Here is a glance as to how this fund helps those who need assistance:
In 2019, a nurse at UPMC Passavant submitted a grant to have three portable oxygen tanks, carts, and regulators available to be loaned to patients on a short-term basis upon release from the hospital. Not only did she request the actual tanks, but she also proposed to have funds cover the cost for on-going oxygen refills. These tanks were approved and are completely free of charge and located in multiple departments through the hospital.
North Hills Community Outreach Food Bank also supplies Passavant Hospital Foundation grocery bags to support the Patient Assistance Fund and to make sure that our patients who may not have the means for groceries leaves with food.
