Legacy of Caring Honorees

Since 2014, Passavant Hospital Foundations has honored Legacy of Caring Honorees at the annual Legacy of Caring Gala.
Each year, a group of honorees are awarded the evening of the gala who: 

  • Have dedicated ten or more years of service to UPMC Passavant
  • Embodies a commitment to patient care and the community's health
  • Personifies UPMC Passavant's values within and beyond the hospital's walls

Honorees have included physicians, nurses, professionals, community members or organizations, donors, volunteers and others who have made a significant contribution to the establishment and growth of UPMC Passavant.

The honorees are awarded one of the following awards: 

  • James C. and Henrietta D. Lear Leadership Award recognizing significant leadership for patient care and/or the growth of the hospital.
  • Reverend William A. Passavant Humanitarian Award recognizing service to humanity outside the hospital’s walls, in the tradition of our hospital’s founder.
  • John P. “Jerry” Auld Award for Community Service recognizing service to the hospital and the community’s health by a non-employee.
  • Legacy of Service Award recognizing longevity of service at or for the hospital.
  • Excellence in Patient Care Award recognizing commitment to excellence in patient care.
  • Matthew Morrow Spirit of Passavant Award recognizing someone who works behind the scenes, a go-to person who gets the job done, goes the extra mile, exhibiting pride in working at Passavant.
  • Susan E. Hoolahan, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Nursing Leadership Award  recognizing significant leadership in nursing, patient care, nursing development and nursing growth.
  • Legacy Beyond Award posthumously to someone whose contribution to the hospital has left a lasting impact.
